"Using the tools of counseling and the power of prayer"
Focus of Practice:
I offer counseling and therapy for individuals, couples and
groups. My work is interactive and designed to help clients solve
relationship problems, relieve anxiety and depression, as well as
manage life transitions and vocational stress. I am also trained
to help clients improve communication and assertiveness skills, and
enhance personal and spiritual growth.
My Philosophy:
-
I believe we are all characterized by being thinking, feeling and
behaving persons and that we can talk about the way we think, feel and
behave. I believe that each person is "God-breathed" and worthy
of respect. We are - at any given time - doing the best we
can. And that we are also desirous of improving the way we relate
to others and to ourselves.
-
I believe we are limited in our ability to change by fear: Fear of
failure, disapproval, or simply fear of not "doing it right." We
are also limited by ignorance. We are not aware that there may be
another way of doing - being - feeling. I believe that when we
know better, we do better.
-
I believe we cannot change another and that we spend needless energy
trying. But we can change ourselves when we are willing to stop
blaming and start taking responsibility for our part in any
relationship that is not working.
My Passion:
- I am passionate about putting into practice Gods' Truth - which is more
that just a thought process - and God's Word - which is more than a
reading project.
-
I am passionate about the friendships of women and why these friendships are important for support, renewal and encouragment.
-
I am passionate about the connection between what we think about and focus on and the direction our lives take.
Professional Experience as Therapist:

Biographical Information:
I consider myself a Californian, although I was born in Albany, New
York and raised in Florida. After graduating from the University
of Florida, in Gainesville, FL, I was offered a job in Washington, D.C.
serving on the Senate Committee on the District of Columbia.
Discovering that politics wasn't a "match" for me, I headed west to
work for the VIII Olympic Winter Games as a staff member on the
Organizing Committee, headquartered in San Francisco. I met my
husband, Max at the Olympics and spent the next 20+ years at home
raising our three children. When they headed off to college, I
went back to graduate school to obtain my therapist training.
