I began my own journey of discovering reasons that led me to make some decisions, and choose to invest in the relationships that ultimately turned out to be very painful. Through this journey the Word of God was opened up and revealed in a whole new way and I discovered new dynamics of good and bad and right and wrong, and that we all carry both and struggle with both throughout life. This journey was guided by a therapist who had struggled himself and who, with a greater understanding of God and how He wants us to conduct our lives, provided me with the greatest investment of my life.  The result was, as an older adult I returned to school to complete a formal education in the field of psychology with an emphasis on integration of the Christian faith.

I am a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist working under the direct supervision of Joy Kendall, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with many years of experience.

My experience in the field of behavioral health includes work in Children’s and Family Services with the County of Mendocino Youth Project, and with Mendocino County AIDS and Viral Hepatitis Network, working with the homeless population and those who have been left devastated by substance use and abuse. Prior to relocating to California, work was concentrated on individual counseling with clients struggling with a variety of issues for Living Success Centers, a non-profit counseling agency in Orange County. This was also the site of my Clinical Field Practicum for Graduate School.

Focus of practice: relationships and the issues that create difficulties in those relationships, including family issues and stage of life issues, a common element of the aging process. Also issues of grace and forgiveness, especially for self. People often tell us that we should, “Forget the past and move on…”, or, “Things will be alright.” My experience has been that “Understanding the past when we can…” and realizing that “Some things won’t be alright” until they are dealt with properly, are more of a truth than the first two statements. Therapy can be painful. However, as many, including myself, have discovered, it can be the start of living the kind of life that God wants for us.

Here you will be provided a safe place to discuss the issues of life.
